CJI Gavai Shoe Attack: VCK Protests in Chennai, Clashes With BJP

A shoe attack on Chief Justice of India BR Gavai has led to a political controversy. Following the incident on Monday, the VCK, led by Chief Thirumavalavan, held a protest outside the Madras High Court in Chennai demanding the arrest of the accused. The party claimed the man belonged to a right-wing group. A VCK speaker stated, “Only because of this reason, Sangh Parivar forces like Rakesh Kishore, having hurted against our CJI, they are doing hurted politics, even in the Supreme Court.” After the protest, VCK members were accused of assaulting a lawyer whose vehicle collided with their leader’s convoy. Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai condemned the VCK, calling their protest an “eyewash” and highlighting the assault. The VCK leader countered that the collision was a deliberate act to create a scene.
