Newly formed Congress governments in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are ringing in changes in policy and practice implemented in the states during BJP rule. MP CM Kamal Nath put an end to the tradition of reciting Vande Mataram at the state secretariat on the first day of each month, only to announce on Thursday that the song will be performed with a marching police band to boot. Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government scrapped minimum education criteria for municipal and panchayat poll candidates introduced by BJP under Vasundhara Raje.
